This paper is intended to discuss the source and its branches of Tibetan Buddhism in
Taiwan. Its theory and rites are generous and acceptable both to the native Buddhism and Taoism.
Hence we can estimate its development of the Tibetan Buddhism here in the future.
The theory and rites of Tibetan Buddhism were from Indian Tantric Buddhism, and with the
same features of Indian Buddhism and Hinduism (later changed as Bhramanism). During its
development in Tibet, it biended with the native religion Boe, then became as the worldly Tibetan
Buddhism. By the way of the refugees, Tibet Buddhism was spreaded to the India, Nepal and
Bhutan. Latterly, based on the need of maintaining Buddhist priests' living, Tibetan Buddhism got
to Taiwan step by step and considered as its preaching site. Besides, the rapid growth of ceconomy
and the fast social changes in Taiwan, that helped its development very much with increased
preaching sites and disciples. The worldly spirit of Tibetan Buddhism reconciled with the native
Buddhism and Taoism, That's also a good momentum.
Nevertheless, there are some constrained factors to Tibet Buddhism, such as the translations of
Chinese or English, as well as the problems of oral languages and monk corps system-all of those
are the cruxes to be solved.
