Abstract Chang Hsin-chai (張心齋) wrote in Yu Meng Ying (幽夢影), "It is affection that maintains the world; it is talent that decorates the universe." Signalizing himself by the epithet, a major talent in Chiang Nang (江南第一風流才子), Tang Po-hu was the most outstanding among those who possessed great qualities of affection and talent. He was also a widely known legendary figure for Chinese, especially undergoing the dissemination of artists and scholars whose works echoed. Tang Po-hu was accomplished in painting, poetry and calligraphy. His painting made him one of the four schools in Min dynasty. His poetry was elegantly simple with taste, and his calligraphy was as eminent as his painting. It is well convinced that literary works reflect their author's dispositions and essence. That's why people believe that personality is not far from the style. Summarizing Tan Po-hu's life, this paper focuses on exploring his style of calligraphy, and it encompasses four sections: Introduction, Tang Po-hu's biography, Style of his calligraphy, and Conclusion. The motivation of this study would be explained in Introduction. In the second section, Tang Po-hu's life is summarized to illuetrate his character and manner. Then, the origins and rationales of his calligraphy would be discussed with eight illustrations of his major works. Finally, the charcteristics. the value and the influence of his calligraphy would be throughly examined. Tang Po-hu's excellent use of techniques of painting and calligraphy which mixed with refined manner and candid personality made himself a real versatile artist. From a historical overview. Tang Po-hu has conteributed a lot by reviving old customs to keep traditional style alive.
