    Abstract
The article discusses the contribution of Yen Ti (also called Shen Nung, a legendary ruler supposed to have introduced agriculture and herbal medicine) to the Chinese culture, with focus on his ideology, his personality, his standing in the Chinese history and his influence on Chinese people.
The references cited in this article include the Historical Records (Shi Ji), the Book of Changes (I Jing) and the Book of History (Shan Shu). Related Chinese mythology and legends are also referred.
This article also briefly discusses the verification of locations of Tomb of Yen Ti, Shen Nung Temple, and "Cha Shang Ji Wei". Hopefully, it can shed some light on the study of Yen Ti in Chinese sociology.
