Abstract The goal of this study is to evaluate the achievement of elementary natural science by using computer assisted instruction (CAI) software. There are two sample schools selected in Taipei city. One is suboridinary experimental elementary school and the other one is ordinary elementary school. Each of these two elementary schools has two groups. One group is experiment group and the other one is control group. Both groups have two classes owning experiment and control groups. In this period time, experiment group has one-hour CAT software use per two weeks, but the control group has no CAI software use. Alt teaching situations, for example natural science teacher and computer teacher, are the same. There are pretest and posttest in these two groups. In this study there are some study results as below: (1) There are 77 students in the first sample school and 72 students in the second sample school. There is a significant difference between two sample school in the true and false section, and f value is 0.022. The experiment group is better than the control group. (2) In gender, there is no significant difference between two sample schools. (3) The first sample school is better than the second sample school in multiple choice section, and f value is 0.000. (4) In age, there is no significant difference between two sample schools in multiple choice and true and false sections. (5) In concrete conception, there are significant differences between pretest and posttest, also between experiment and control groups.
