ABSTRACT Open educators view the school as a place to help children learn how to learn, to extend their intellectual and emotional capacities, and to emphasize learning how to use resources in making, organizing and utilising knowledges. The ideas of open education are: to provide the children a safe and happy surroundings, to develop the responsible attitudes toward works under principles of interest and need, to set up the individualized learning and to put the multiple evaluation into practice. We have had a lot of open education experiences in early childhood education. We hope to build our Chinese open school models from western countries experiences which included: class teaching, team teaching and individualizing learning (in learning area or learn corner). And we hope open education should take place an openness and good mutual relationships among children and their parents, too. Early childhood education must be cooprated with parent education.
