Abstract:	本文旨在初步探討日治時期北港郡北港街的第一所女子公學校─北港女子公學校（現今雲林縣北辰國小）的設立沿革、微觀校園史實及其歷史意涵，並重構與澄清日治時期北港郡的部分初等教育史錯誤記載。本研究採用文獻分析方式，針對雲林縣相關文史資料、校史叢書、臺灣日日新報、臺灣總督府官方史冊、臺灣文獻館相關史料、雲林縣相關教育史研究及個人收藏的一手文獻等資料，進行系統化爬梳與整理。綜合歸納與分析後得出以下結論：首先，對日治時期北港郡的第一所女子公學校設立背景、校名變遷、校園概況、房舍建築及設立的意涵作初步系統化的介紹；其次，澄清日治時期北港郡初等教育史的錯誤名稱記載，還原小學校及公學校建校順序；再來，透過相關女子公學校的史料初步了解女子教育在日治時期的男女平等化展現；最後，女子教育的興起，在女權尚未被重視的臺灣社會中，無疑是賦予女子追求學問與新生活的權益與肯定，協助以往只能在家庭中默默付出貢獻的女性，走出閨房的桎梏並創造全新的社會價值與地位。
